================================================================= EMERGENCY FUNDING NEEDED! HELP SPONSOR A BUS! or sponsor one or more students to get to the NATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS MARCH ON WASHINGTON! ================================================================= Make your donation at: http://www.bamn.com/wdc/sponsor-a-bus.asp WITH ONE WEEK LEFT until April 1st, momentum for the National Civil Rights March on Washington is building rapidly. Every day, more and more college and high school students are contacting us, eager to go to the March, but lack transportation funds to get to Washington, DC. Students need your help now! Your financial support could help students like: * Eduardo Garcia, a high school senior from DeBakey High School in Houston, Texas, and fifteen of his fellow students, and Mattilyn Merrell and students from Texas Woman's University, who need $240 each for plane tickets to attend the march. President Bush's claims that "percent plans" currently used in Texas's public universities can substitute for affirmative action is a lie. In a state that has a majority Mexican-American and black youth population, Texas A&M University, the largest public institution in the country, has a student body that is 2% black and 8% Latino. * Students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are organizing to come to the march but need your help now to get there. Tversa Ricks and 65 other students at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia and Linice White and 70 students from Coppin State College in Baltimore are eager to get on a bus. Your donation would ensure that these students could attend the March on April 1. * In the Midwest, Fatmata Bangura-Smith has been organizing fellow law students at the most integrated law school in the country, Cooley Law School in western Michigan. Fifty students want to go to the march, but they need $3000 for a bus to get there. Thirty people sending $100 each could bring the Cooley Law School contingent to the March. * High school, university, and law students throughout the state of California need your help to attend the march. The loss of affirmative action programs in California is leading rapidly to the re-creation of segregated, and separate and unequal educational opportunities for California's majority minority student population. Janelle Orsi and over 50 students from the Claremont Colleges need your generous contribution to make it to the march. Don't let the lack of funds prevent us from having the massive demonstration of support that we need to defend affirmative action.
