BAMN is continuing the struggle to win full integration and equality in American society. Currently, BAMN is combating Ward Connerly's effort to get white-majority electorates to outlaw affirmative action through state ballot initiatives. In August 2008, BAMN succeeded at keeping Connerly's initiative out of Arizona, after having defeated him in Missouri and Oklahoma earlier that year. BAMN is conducting a federal challenge against Michigan's Proposal 2, to strike down as unconstitutional statewide affirmative action bans in Michigan and across the country.

BAMN is organizing a nationwide movement to win a federal lawsuit challenging Michigan's anti-affirmative-action constitutional amendment, Proposal 2. If we build the movement, we can win this lawsuit, which would lead to the overturn of Michigan's Proposal 2, California's Proposition 200, and other state bans on affirmative action nationally.
BAMN is building the movement to overturn the ban on affirmative action, Proposition 209, and to increase underrepresented minority student enrollment at the University of California
With few resources, BAMN succeeded at defeating Connerly's multi-million dollar effort to place an anti-affirmative-action initiative on the fall 2008 ballot. It is a model for how to defeat right-wing ballot initiatives across the country. See the Stop ACRI Page.
