To get signatures in Arizona, ACRI used systematic voter fraud targeting Latino/a,black, and Native Americans: including deceptively-worded ballot language; signature gatherers who lied about the intent and results of the proposed initiative; and teams of well-paid out-of-state petitioners who were dishonestly representing themselves as Arizonians. The Arizona backers of the deceptively-named "Arizona Civil Rights Initiative" and their out-of-state political and financial backers used tactics that echo the old Jim Crow—to establish the new Jim Crow in Arizona.
BAMN's Investigation of ACRI's Fraud
BAMN is conducting an ongoing investigation of the fraud utilized by the ACRI’s chief sponsor, Ward Connerly, to obtain ballot status. BAMN has launched an interactive website so that voters who were deceived into signing the ACRI can help document the racially-targeted voter fraud. BAMN is calling on the Governor and Attorney General to take action because the Maricopa County prosecutor, Andrew Thomas is the honorary chair of the ACRI.
Letter to the Secretary of State
Below is the evidence of fraud submitted to the Secretary of State:
Exhibit 1
During the Stop ACRI campaign, both circulators and people who signed ACRI came forward to tell the truth about the fraud. The circulators came forward to admit to Stop ACRI investigators-- that they lied to voters particularly targeting black, Latino/a, and other minorities--- by claiming ACRI "supported affirmative action and civil rights".

Exhibit 2
ACRI used many means to defraud the voters of Arizona including the hiring of homeless and convicted felons to lie to Latino/a, black and Native American voters.

Exhibit 3
ACRI used third party transcribers to copy information into their petitions. This was made clear by the fact that multiple petitions were submitted by the same circulator but the handwriting was different on each one. When all the information was unreadable these third party transcribers faked names and addresses.

Arizonians want to know who these mystery third persons are!
Exhibit 4
Susan Peterson was the Notary Public for approximately 25% of the ACRI petitions. ACRI turned in 28,000 petitions, Peterson notarized about 7,000 of those petitions. Peterson was a very busy Notary assisting Ward Connerly in his racially targeted voter fraud against the people of Arizona; she notarized more than 265 petitions on June 2, 2008-- then again, maybe she got a little assistance with her signature:
