Sample Resolution

Present this Resolution to your organization, union, community group, church, etc. to organize support for the march -

RESOLUTION TO REALIZE THE PROMISE OF BROWN v. BOARD OF EDUCATION

Whereas,

May 17, 2004 marks the 50 year anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education. In making this landmark decision, the US Supreme Court declared that "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal."

Whereas,

Today, fifty years after this landmark decision, more black, Latina/o and Native American children attend segregated and unequal schools than ever before.

Therefore, be it resolved,

We reaffirm the US Supreme Court's view that "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal" and that "'separate but equal' has no place" in American education.

Therefore, be it resolved,

We share the aspiration of the overwhelming majority of Americans to achieve equality of educational opportunity.

Therefore, be it resolved,

We support the Saturday, May 15, 2004 March on Washington to Realize the Promise of Brown v. Board of Education and Defend Affirmative Action.
