The Seventh National Conference of the New Civil Rights Movement comes at a critical conjuncture in the fight for equality and integration in America. The new civil rights movement is awakening more and more people to the fact of the racist segregation and inequality permeating our society and its education system. At the same time our movement is teaching people through their own experience that when you organize and you fight, you can win. Progress comes through struggle–mass action is the key.

We will be discussing and voting on a perspective for the defense of our US. Supreme Court victory in Grutter v. Bollinger. That defense is now the key to advancing the fight to realize the promise of Brown v. Board of Education–full integration and equality in American education.

We need organizers to step forward as leaders across the country. This conference will be a powerful opportunity to connect with other civil rights organizers and freedom riders from around the country.

We will begin planning for  a mass civil rights march on Washington, DC to mark the 50-year anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education with the demand that the promise of Brown be realized–NOW.
