BAMN is waging the fight to reverse the drop in underrepresented minority student enrollment at the University of California, where the national attack began. In May 2001, the new civil rights movement successfully forced the University of California Regents to reverse their ban on affirmative action, but still the numbers of Latina/o, black, and Native American students in the UC system, especially its flagship schools, remain abysmally low.

BAMN is organizing public hearings at the UC campuses on the rise in racism, isolation, and hostile climate for underrepresented minority students that has resulted from ending affirmative action. At UC-Berkeley, students have given powerful testimony and taken stand against racism and the national attack on affirmative action.

As the Proposal 2 case proceeds up the courts, organize your campus to circulate the petitions and join the movement.

• INVITE BAMN TO YOUR CAMPUS. Hold a forum to bring pro-affirmative-action supporters together and invited BAMN as a speaker. BAMN can speak on the lawsuits and building the new civil rights movement. Get your school, academic department, and/or student government to co-sponsor.

• ORGANIZE A DEBATE including BAMN and an anti-affirmative action speaker. Work in conjunction with other organizations. Show them this video of UC-Berkeley's successful debate.
